What follows Dylan into NG+?
This is the developer's announced carry-over policy, not a claim about every inventory item or activity flag.
| System | Announced NG+ behavior |
|---|---|
| Aberrant, health and ability resource | Upgrades persist |
| Combat Abilities, Talents and Artifacts | Unlocks persist; additional combinations become possible |
| Traversal abilities | Reset with story progression |
| Artifact capacity | A fourth equipped slot unlocks |

Why is the second run different?
Remedy says a first playthrough cannot unlock everything. NG+ allows new Talent nodes and combinations of different Combat Abilities gained from the same boss. That makes it a build-experiment run, not merely the same campaign with bigger numbers.
The world also pushes back: enemies and encounters evolve, and some bosses may have new behaviors. The announcement does not provide a fixed level scaling formula or list every modified encounter.

What needs to be reacquired?
Traversal abilities remain tied to the story and do not carry over. That is different from supernatural Combat Abilities, which are explicitly part of the retained progression. Plan exploration around renewed route gates even if your combat build is already developed.
World Quests, bounties, collectibles and alternative side-story outcomes are reasons to return. Their reset states and rewards should be read against the current completion guide and the version named on the page.

How does NG++ change repeat runs?
Update 1.4.0 shipped repeatable New Game Plus, described as New Game++, on October 1, 2026. It allows an unlimited number of successive runs and raises the number of save slots from five to seven.
The update confirms repeated cycles, not a new universal carry-over rule for every quest flag or inventory item. Keep the established NG+ distinction: combat progression carries forward, while story-gated traversal must still be reopened through the campaign.

What a second run changes in practice
NG+ retains Aberrant upgrades, health and combat-resource improvements, unlocked supernatural Combat Abilities, Talents and Artifacts. It also permits broader combinations, including the additional Artifact slot. The player therefore begins with combat options that were earned across the first run instead of repeating the same opening build decisions from zero.
That carryover is not universal. Story-gated traversal tools are reacquired as the route unfolds, so an upgraded weapon does not imply immediate access to every area. Read progression as two tracks: the build you bring forward and the route you still need to reopen. This distinction is especially relevant to movement abilities such as Reach.

New Game Plus: what players need to know
Use New Game++ for repeated build experiments, but do not expect old traversal shortcuts to stay open at the start of each new story cycle.
